3 of Pentacles, Haindl Tarot

OK, have a fair idea of what it means, referring mentally to Voodoo and Whimsical... but can anyone please tell me what the little I Ching hexagram in the corner means? (See Haindl Tarot in sidebar) ;-))
Nasty, nasty, nasty in the Giotto: it seems this one substitutes for the 5 of Wands (in this deck) as the "quarrels" card, i.e. people swearing to sue each other, particularly over domestic disputes! So tonight, tomorrow, I will look out for my "3 of Pentacles" moment, i.e. when reading a card for the day, I do not expect for the whole day to have that 'colouring', but when the moment arrives, I should recognise it, and go: aha!? ;-P

The Hexagram is number 13
T'ung Jen /Fellowship of Men.
The top three solid (strong) lines (above) are Chien - The Creative, Heaven.

The bottom three, with broken line (weak)in the middle are Li - The Clinging, Flame.

"It is the nature of fire to flame up to heaven. This gives the idea of fellowship. It is the second line that, by virtue of its central character, unites the five strong lines around it ... Here, the clarity is within and strength without - the character of peaceful union of men, which, in order to hold together, meeds one yielding nature among many firm persons.

THE JUDGEMENT
FELLOWSHIP WITH MEN in the open.
Success.
It furthers one to cross the great water,
The perserverance of the superior man furthers.

True fellowhip among men must be based upon a concern that is universal It is not the private interests of the individual that create lasting fellwoship among men, but rather goals of humanity. That is why it is said that fellowship with men in the open succeeds. If unity of this kind prevails, even difficult and dangerous tasks, such as crossing the great water can be accomplished. But in order to bring about this sort of fellowship, a perservering and enlightened leader is needed - a man with clear, convincing, and inspiring aims and the strength to carry them out. (The inner trigram means clarity:, the outer strength).

THE IMAGE

Heaven together with fire:
The image of FELLOWSHIP WITH MEN.
Thus the superior man organises the clans
And makes distinctions between things.

Heaven has the same direction of movement as fire, yet it is different from fire. Just as the luminaries in the sky serve for the systematic division and arrangement of time, so human sociaty and all things that really belong together must be organically arranged. Fellowship should not be a mere mingling of individuals or of things - that would be chaos, not fellowship. If fellowship is to lead order, there must be organisation within diversity.

The I Ching or Book of Changes. The Richard Wilhelm translation. (1971 printing) London, Routledge & Kegan Paul Ltd. ISBN 0-7100-1581-X pp.56-57

Hmmm! In the Thoth and RWS, the # of Pents talks about co-operation and teamwork, which fits well with Haindel's correspondence with the Hexagram of T'ung Jen - Fellowship of Men. The 5 of wands in the RWS is also a 'fights among people' card'.

Certainly it suggests that working together will achieve more than fighting. Still, see what you make out of it.

Richard Wilhelm was the original translator of the I Ching from Chinese to German (then of course, it was translated into English).... so this is the real deal, as opposed to some of the fluff that floats around and gets up our noses these days.

Hmm, interesting, thanks for this. I do believe I already had my Giotto 3 of Pents moment last night, when talking with Craig, and he mentioned his ex going all silly and making access difficult again... In the Giotto at least, this seems "her" card, what with domestic disputes (over nothing) and lawyers wrangling in the background...

I found also a similar moment, when a worker also mentioned her family dragging her into disputes! ;-P

Very interesting. And the comments are just as interesting as the posts.

Perhaps I should add how strange it seems that you were unable to post the message you wanted on the Tarot Forum because it doesn't accept certain words.
