Enduring Love

I find this a very, very interesting book. I have known one instance of De Clerambault's syndrome, similar to the historical one given in the appendix, of a French woman who believed George V in love with her: at the Elsternwick rooming house (known as the "Filthwick" to those who have lived, or survived, there), we suffered for a while the co-tenancy of an unfortunate woman, in her 30s, I think, who had the fixed and unshakeable delusion that Prince William (or Harry?) loved her, and every fortnight put large amounts of money into her bank account, as well as showering her with expensive gifts; this does not explain however why she always cadged (and stole) off everyone else...;-P
I find the homoerotic twist a very interesting variation, and wonder in what ways the ending of the movie differs from the book, which stays pretty true to the case-history.

How did the book end, btw? I find it a bit ambiguous: did Parry die, or did he live on in a psych. institution as in the case-story? ;-P
